Bolzano offers a variety of museums and cultural institutions that are well worth a visit. Particularly popular is the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology with the Iceman, ‘Ötzi’, which offers an insight into the history of the Alps. Performances at the New City Theatre or the Waltherhaus provide a sophisticated programme throughout the year. After a cultural evening or a stroll through the city, cosy bars and cafés invite you to enjoy a coffee or aperitif and watch the hustle and bustle of the city. During Advent, the Bolzano Christmas market creates a special atmosphere with lights and scents.

Bolzano is a real paradise for sports enthusiasts: a well-developed network of cycle paths invites you to explore the city and its surroundings. On hot summer days, the Lido di Bolzano with its pools and sunbathing lawns offers welcome refreshment. The swimming lakes of Caldaro and Monticolo are also within easy reach and are ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
In winter, the ski slopes in Obereggen or Sarntal are within easy reach, allowing you to combine a city break with skiing fun. This is the ideal way to combine exercise in nature with relaxation by the water and in the snow.
Dolomites & Promenades
Mountains and high plateaus rise up around Bolzano, easily accessible and always accompanied by the Dolomite panorama. Bolzano is considered the gateway to the Dolomites and is also close to highlights such as the Alpe di Siusi, Val Gardena and the Rosengarten – ideal for day trips. The Ritten is particularly well known, connected directly to the city by cable car, with wide paths and views stretching as far as the Rosengarten. The Guncina and S. Osvaldo are ideal for short walks through the city: lots of greenery, Mediterranean flair and views over Bolzano – perfect for a relaxing afternoon in any season, without any stress.
